Poseidon, the brother of Zeus, ruled the seas. He possessed power over storms and, when upset, would hurl huge waves at the ships and boats that sailed the waters of Greece. Poseidon always carried a trident, given to him by the Cyclops. He married Anfithritus and they had three children.
All of the creatures of the sea, from the oysters to the whales, obeyed Poseidon.
