Some authorities involved in campaigns against toxic substances contacted us at one time. They wanted to find a way for information about this hazard to reach the greater public more readily. Specifically, pre-adolescents. They imagined that to do this they could use the language of cartoons. And perhaps strong characters, like Monica & Friends.

Mauricio agreed to collaborate, and a project was created by the studio for a special comic book to be distributed throughout the country.

But the organs linked to the Ministry of Justice had to approve the story, evaluate the pros and cons. They feared that the material might encourage the use of toxic substances instead of discouraging it.

And that was the beginning of a slow process, with Mauricio making trips to Brasilia without obtaining the necessary approval. After a time, Mauricio gave up. But the cartoon story created at that time is still valid. So much so that, recently, a copy of the material fell into the hands of representatives of the PanAmerican Health Organization in Washington. And they are showing interest in publishing it in various languages.
