Story 208 - "I
CAN!"
Oh, the unbearable certainty of the end.
Its all! Its nothing!
And most simply and certainly
The unknown!
We watch the time passing by.
We look around, and we don't see many of our beloved friends anymore.
And we ask ourselves: When will it be our turn?
As if life were a game of chance, pre-marked time frames with names etched in stone, ready to surprise us.
And then what?
Do we succumb to worry?
Would our absence be a punishment for those who stay?
Or maybe a reward.
After all, we will leave empty spaces to be filled.
We won't be taking any positions in hierarchy, in the command chain, in authority…
But I desire to stay a little longer.
Much longer than a little.
For there is so much yet to be lived.
Stories told, sung and wished.
Where what is imagined is possible,
Through the movement of mind and body
Gliding with wings or swimming with gills
Or clawing inconceivable feats
In flight over fields, in motion through seas
And climbing the highest mountains
To gain that glimpse that is there to see...
Of the city's turmoil,
Of people and their emotions.
To let beauty soak in our hearts...
To shower our loved ones with kisses...
And never forget our soul's other half.I would touch hair, skin, shell and scales,
I would feed the hungry offspring,
And set the captives free…I would spend most of my time with the children.
Drinking from their naive eyes
The hope of a new life.
I would be
Companion, father, brother,
Mother if needed…
But there, together, hand in hand.I would respect my body
Get away from the aggressiveness…
I would preserve myself for one more day,If that were all left for me
And love what is mine to inhabit the Earth.
I would seek my God even more eagerly
And bear with any doubts of His whereabouts
I would lay down being sure of His presence...
Oh! If only I could…
But I can!
If I am here.
