Mauricio de Sousa and the consuls of Brazil and Japan in Boston, celebrate with a coconut cake,
the 100 years of Japan Brazil Immigration


Mauricio de Sousa keynoted a conference at Harvard University, USA, April 11, 2008. The conference theme was Brazil and Japan: A Century of Travels Between Borders and Generations. This was Mauricio's second invitation to speak at the esteemed Ivy League university.

Mauricio de Sousa spoke about the characters he created to mark the 100th anniversary of Japanese immigration to Brazil: Tikara and Keika: Mascots of the Brazil-Japan Centenary.

The Lecture at the Tsai Auditorium, was part of the Sixth Annual Brazil Week, sponsored by the Jorge Paulo Lemann Fund of the Brazil Studies Program at the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, the Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies, and the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Harvard University.
