Mauricio de Sousa signing for the Book Monica and the Portuguese Orthographic Reform in Verses at a Mega Bookstore in Brazil |
A Portuguese Language Orthographic Agreement was reached between the Portuguese-language countries with the intent of creating a single common orthography for Portuguese.
The Agreement went into effect in 2010, after all Portuguese language countries, Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, East Timor, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal and São Tomé and Príncipe, had ratified it.
And here comes Monica’s Gang with a book addressing, in a easy and fun-filled way for children to understand, the changes of the idiom.
The illustrated book Monica and the Portuguese Orthographic Reform in Verses, by Mauricio de Sousa and Yara Maura Silva, published by Editora Abril Brazil, was launched on March 6.
